The Ultimate Chocolate Cake

Have a chocoholic in the family, because this recipe is definitely going to catch their eye! This recipe can be the star of the table and you won't have to find another chocolate cake recipe again.

  1. Preheat over to 180°C conventional or 160°C fan-forced
  2. Grease and line a 22cm round cake tin
  3. Mix the butter, vanilla essence and sugar until light and fluffy
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition
  5. Sift cocoa, flour and baking powder together and add to the wet ingredients alternately with the milk
  6. Pour mixture into prepared cake tin and bake for 45 to 55 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean
  7. Cool in tin for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely
